Bungalow
Everything on one level. A life without stairs.
The bungalow is the most consistent answer to a simple question: why climb stairs when everything can be on one level? Living, sleeping, bathroom and kitchen connect along short, threshold-free routes – a home that adapts to the person, not the other way round.
Building a bungalow: one level, thoroughly considered
A good bungalow lives from its zoning. We clearly separate the public area – open-plan kitchen, dining and living room facing the garden – from the private wing with bedrooms and bathroom. A central hallway holds both together without wasting space. The large window formats bring the plot into the home: with only one level, every room sits at ground level by the garden, with direct access to the terrace.
Why timber-frame construction suits the bungalow especially well
A bungalow has a lot of roof area and a lot of exterior wall relative to its living space – two areas where insulation determines running costs. This is exactly where timber-frame construction plays to its strengths: highly insulated, slim components, factory-made and airtight. As standard, we build every bungalow as an Efficiency House 40 with a heat pump and controlled domestic ventilation – the prerequisite for KfW funding 297/298.
Who the bungalow is built for
The bungalow suits couples building with foresight, families who value life on one level, and everyone planning a property that will still serve in thirty years. Anyone thinking especially compact and space-efficient will find the smaller sibling in the Tiny House; the path from design to a binding fixed-price offer is described in our five-step process.
Frequently asked questions about this house type
Answers with the figures that apply in 2026 – explored in depth in person.
What does a bungalow cost as a prefab home?
The price of a bungalow depends on living space, specification and plot – single-level homes tend to have a slightly higher price per square metre than multi-storey buildings because of the larger ground and roof area. You receive your binding fixed-price offer with a 12-month price guarantee after a no-obligation initial consultation; the plot and ancillary construction costs of 15 to 20 percent are additional.
Is a bungalow barrier-free?
Being single-level is the basic prerequisite – on request we plan it consistently barrier-free to DIN 18040: threshold-free transitions, a level-access shower, sufficient circulation space and door widths. That keeps the home usable in every stage of life, without it showing in the design.
Does a bungalow need a larger plot?
Yes. Because the entire living space is on one level, a bungalow has a larger footprint than a two-storey home of the same size – as a rule of thumb, about twice the built-up area. Whether your plot can accommodate that is something we check against the local development plan and the site coverage ratio before the first design.
From a house type to your home, it's one conversation.
In the initial consultation we check whether the type suits your plot – local development plan, budget, schedule. No obligation, with honest figures and no sales pressure.
